Excuse Me.... Did I hear you right

I was talking to Amanda yesterday and I said something stupid. No need to repeat it, lets just take it for what it was and say that it was stupid (Not as good as "I like pizza" or "I'm taller than you because I can see your forehead"). Well, she told me that there is a saying out there that goes like this:

The 3 R's of Education are Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic.

Huh?! Umm... I might be a little tired (haven't gotten a lot of sleep in the past 2 weeks) but only one of those words start with an 'R'. And these are the R's of EDUCATION?! Of EDUCATION!! I feel that we're putting a bit too much faith in our education system... and now we have truth.

Silver-dollars

Today, pancakes made me happy. I wasn't so thrilled with the fact that our griddle that we got from Walmart (which was awsome when we first got it) has turned to cra..... err... not as good. But, we have other ways of cooking things; bizarre objects known to a select few only as "pans". With these "pans", Alicia was able to make great silver-doller pancakes, which are my favorite. It made me very happy.

Not another one!

Oh yes, here it goes. Everyone stay in your seats, I'm still here posting. What made me happy today, makes me (and everyone else I know) happy and makes the rest of their day happy. Today, I slept in a little. I know I know. I stole your happiness post for the day, but there it is. Recently, I have been "sleeping-in" for only till around 9 or 10 in the morning, which is late when you go to sleep around 3 or 4 in the morning. Today, I slept in till 11:30. I mean WOW!! I feel like I can take on the world.

... and I would, but I have to go take on work. Only 3 more days left till I am no longer working in the café. Monday... I'm moving to the bookfloor. /cheer

And who are you... The Happiness Guru

Today's thing that makes me happy are great book dedications. There aren't many that are great, but when you find one, it's usually something you remember. The best dedication I think I've ever seen is not in a book, well, not a book as you would think though. It's in the graphic novel Kingdom Come. It says:

Dedicated to CHRISTOPHER REEVE
who makes us believe
a man can fly.

**This is not the same picture in the book, I couldn't find the same picture. sorry.**

Happiness is a state of mind...

.... uum.... <> Okay. I tried to make it witty and amusing, sort of a catcher to make you read on, but that didn't work out so good. They can't all be gems I guess. Anyhoot, I was reading my dad and "dad"'s website this evening and think that they have a very good challenge. To name one thing that makes them happy every day. I seem to be a few days too late to begin, but lets just catch up real quick then shall we:

August 1 - What made me happy this day was actually the lack of doing something. Over the weekend, I had spent it moving houses. Ouch. It's nice when it's over, and today, it was basically over.

August 2 - Today, the game I usually play before I go to work was down for repairs (as it is every Tuesday), but it gave me time to look into an old game that I used to really like playing. It's called Escape Velocity: Nova. Think of it as an old Asteroids game set to better graphics and on a much larger scale. It was nice to play it again.

August 3 - As stated also by The Buzz, my lunch was spectacular. I don't normally treat myself to lunch as it's just a pain to leave work, but today I did. I got a Chicken Cheesesteak with a side of cheese fries. It was perfect. One of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. And you just can't go wrong with cheese fries... not really anyway.

I guess that catches me up so far for the month. Lets see how long I can do this for. One a day. Right. Determination! Everyone brace yourselves, this might really hurt ....

Not Again...

Well, it's that time again. Moving day. Yippie. This is going to be great. Moving all the stuff we have from one place to another. We'll get pizza, eat hotdogs, chips... it'll be like a little picnic with just the two of us. Wait a sec.... It's not like a picnic. It's not like a picnic at all now that I remember the last time we did this. Oh Lord! This is going to be bad.... and more importantly, not fun. I guess it's what has got to be done.

And today is the 30th. So I send a shout-out Happy Birthday to my dad, the Buzz, and a 1 day late call-out for my step-mom, Empress. Happy BIrthday you two.

The new place is very cool, although a lot smaller. But it is still enough to have some company (Hint, Hint family and friends), and hopefully there wont be any problems with trying to get internet tomorrow. I have this paranoid feeling that there will be a problem with it. We'll see.

Well, these boxes aren't going to move themselves I guess... no matter how hard I try and make them.

The other things to do while not at work

This is a strange update for me. In an attempt to not play video games as much, I decided to do something "more productive" with my time, or so I have been told since I was a little kid. My dad ( The Buzz ) had grinded in my brain very usefull words that I think more should know. He told me that "... all smart people have one thing in common. They read." I believe this, as nothing I have every come across has not proven that to be 100% correct ( so... right on Tater! ). He is also always interested in what book(s) I am currently reading, and his mother always made me read for 30 minutes a day growing up, so this sort of thing seem to be pushed into me as a kid.

Well, I decided that reading would be a good way to get away from the games as much, and in tune with the most horrible evening you could spend at a bookstore, let alone working at one for it, I decided to read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I just finished it. IT.. WAS... AMAZING... There, I said it. Therefore, stop reading this now, and go get the whole series. You need to read them all, even if you've seen the movies. Trust me, you'll love them all.

And for now, I"m looking for a new book to read. I like the fantasy/sci-fi sort of books, more fantasy than Sci-fi I think. I also like books that have at least a few in the series so I can get in touch with characters and actually care what happens to them. Let me know if you have any ideas.

And what books are you reading by any chance?

( Looking back at this post, I realize how bad my grammer was. It's late though and it was a rough day. Please excuse it and just focus on how great it is that I finally posted again. The next one will be better. )

On this day...

Okay, so it's been a month since I've last posted. So, in order to celebrate, I figured that I should post. I was going to come up with something really cool to put here. A whole bunch of "on this day in history....." something fun happened or something eventful. After searching far and wide (at the History Channel website), I was able to find all of the really interesting facts that happened today:

*The Liberty Bell rang in Philadelphia and the D. of Independence was read to the public for the first time.

*Angelica Huston was born in 1952.

WOW! Wasn't that exciting. I think so. And now we can add that I posted on this day, which frankly, has got to be a day in the history books.
